LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Health Net Inc. (NYSE:HNT) today announced that Janine Sawaya Eggers
recently joined the company as vice president of Medical Affairs
In this role, Eggers will be responsible for identifying "best
practices" that improve quality and outcome measurements. She will also
oversee the integration and implementation of a national medical
management program for all Health Net health plans.
Eggers, 50, reports to Timothy Moore, M.D., senior vice president and
chief medical officer of Health Net Inc.

"Her 25 years of health care experience, in both administration and
operations, will serve Health Net well as we develop and implement a
national medical management program. This program focuses on enhancing

Prior to joining Health Net, Eggers served four years with Humana Inc.
in several executive and management positions. Recently, she served as
chief executive officer of Humana's National Hospitalist Company, where
she directed inpatient care for Humana members. She also served as
director of Operations for Humana's Corporate Medical Affairs Division,
where she developed the infrastructure to coordinate and monitor the
division's medical management initiatives.
From 1995 to 1997, Eggers worked for Sierra Health Services, a managed
health-care company in Las Vegas. There, Eggers served as director of
Operations for the company's Southwest Medical Association. Prior to
this, Eggers worked at Sunrise Hospital in Las Vegas, serving as
associate executive director of Administration for three years and
associate executive director of Nursing Services for six years.
Eggers, a registered nurse, received her master's in health
administration and bachelor of science degree in health sciences from
the College of St. Francis, Las Vegas.
In 1988, Eggers received the "Search for Excellence" award from the
American Nurses Association. She is past chairperson of the Nevada
Commission for Nursing and past president of the Nevada Organization of
Health Net Inc., formerly known as Foundation Health Systems Inc., is
